Sports Massage

Sports massage is NOW AVAILABLE. Please me contact me for more info.

Sports massage uses elements of Swedish massage whilst incorporating techniques of stretching, compression, friction, toning and trigger response. It helps to alleviate the stress and tension built up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity, and prevent the niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement.

The treatment focuses on muscles that have seen a large degree of stress and use, often to the point of overuse. It is not just for sports persons: anyone can benefit, including those in physically demanding jobs and those who have occupational, emotional or bodily stress (such as stress caused from incorrect posture).

Maintenance Massage

Regular sports massage can help to maintain or improve range of motion and muscle flexibility, reduce the risk of injury during exercise, improve circulation, help realign muscle fibres and connective tissue and shorten the recovery time between workouts. Massage maximizes the supply of nutrients and oxygen though increased blood flow, which helps the body rebuild itself.

Event and Pre-event massage

Sports massage can also be used to supplement an athlete’s warm up to reduce excess muscle and mental tension prior to a competition and to enhance circulation.

Post-event massage helps to reduce the muscle spasms, soreness and metabolic build up that occurs with rigorous exercise. It allows the athlete to return to training and competition more quickly by enhances the body’s own recovery process and reducing the risk of injury.

Rehabilitation

When you suffer an injury you may being to lose mobility and strength in the affected area, due to pain and lack of movement. The longer you live with the injury, the harder it can be to do your normal activities. Without rehabilitation exercises, people can experience regular flare ups of their injuries, which can increase the chance of further injury.

Sports massage is used to speed healing and reduce discomfort of muscle cramps, tears, bruised and aches and for both chronic and acute injuries.
